Ricardo Sosa

I'm a creative designer and a scientist.

I evaluate grant applications for Conacyt and review research articles for the Journal of Engineering Design, the Journal of Innovation: Management, Policy & Practice, and the Rapid Prototyping Journal.

I'm an Industrial Designer from UAM, Mexico and did my PhD work in Design Computing at the University of Sydney, Australia. I joined the Learning Lab at the National University of Singapore, did a semester abroad at MIT and I'm a visiting lecturer at Universidad de Cuenca and Universidad del Azuay, Ecuador.

I combine teaching, research and admin duties at Tecnologico de Monterrey in Mexico, where I'm heading the new Department of Industrial Design, teach innovation and product development, and supervise graduate thesis on rapid prototyping for creativity, social simulation of innovation, and participatory design methods.

I've received the following awards:

Soy evaluador en convocatorias de Conacyt, y dictaminador de artículos en el Journal of Engineering Design, el Journal of Innovation: Management, Policy & Practice y el Rapid Prototyping Journal.

Doctor en Diseño y Cómputo (Design Computing) por la Universidad de Sydney, Australia (2000-2005). Diseñador Industrial de la Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Azcapotzalco (1991-1996). Es profesor investigador en el Tecnológico de Monterrey y director académico del departamento de diseño en campus Querétaro. Desde 2008 es miembro del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (SNI -C). Recibió en mayo 2009 el reconocimiento al mejor profesor de generación de la División de Ingeniería y Arquitectura y en mayo 2010 el reconocimiento al mejor profesor de posgrados. Ha sido profesor invitado de la Universidad de Cuenca y la Universidad del Azuay en Cuenca, Ecuador. Ha impartido clases en la Universidad de Sydney Australia y en la Universidad Nacional de Singapur. Ha publicado diversas ponencias en congresos internacionales arbitrados y artículos de investigación científica en publicaciones internacionales. Es dictaminador de ponencias y artículos de investigación.
